What’s in the Bag?

Not your usual reveal of apples, magazines, and pens! As part of our ongoing mission to help you make sustainable choices in promotional merchandise, we thought we’d start with one of the most visible and useful products: the bag.

We’re all familiar with the classic 5oz cotton shopper, seen at events up and down the country since, well… forever. But in recent years, we’ve seen a rise in more refined, eco-conscious options: organic cotton, Fairtrade, recycled materials – and that’s a good thing, right?

Absolutely. We all want the greenest bags at the best prices, made the right way, with fair wages and ethical practices. And at Boosters, we do everything we can to ensure we only work with suppliers who meet those standards.

Beyond the Label: Fighting Greenwashing

Sadly, greenwashing is on the rise. That’s why we’ve made it our policy to only work with suppliers who can provide genuine, consistent certification. When we say a bag is certified – whether it’s Fairtrade, Oeko-Tex, GRS, GOTS, or Biomaster – we mean it, and we’re happy to provide the evidence, every time. If a supplier fails to meet that standard, we stop working with them. Simple.

Likewise, if we say a bag meets SEDEX, ISO, or BSCI standards, that claim is backed up – and we’ll gladly show you the documentation. That’s the Boosters Promise.

Sustainability Starts with Materials

We’re intentional about every material we choose. To be part of our sustainable range, a bag must fall under at least one of the following key categories:

  • Reusable – Durable and designed to be used again and again. Longer lifespan = less waste = fewer resources used.
  • Natural – Made from renewable resources like plants, which replenish over time and require less energy to process than synthetic alternatives.
  • Organic – Grown without harmful chemicals, organic materials are better for the environment, require less water, and often produce softer, stronger fibres.
  • Recyclable – Materials that can be processed into new products instead of ending up in landfill. It’s all about contributing to a circular economy.
  • Recycled – These bags are made from post- or pre-consumer waste and use less energy to produce, giving materials a second life.

The Boosters Promise: we care about what’s in the bag, who made it, where it came from, and how it performs for your brand and for the planet.
