Plastic Free July

 

Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people to be part of the solution to plastic pollution.

Plastic is in everything we use, everyday items, food storage, bottles, bags, stationery and so much more. It’s time to not only start thinking about how we can change our collective attitudes towards plastic, but to actually do something and reduce our individual plastic waste by choosing to recycle or re-use. A lot of plastic waste is found in our oceans, . Not only is there a danger of pollution but also a significant risk to wildlife as the biodiversity of plastic contaminates their eco system; Prevented Ocean Plastics is an organisation that use recycled plastic collected from coastal areas around the world that are at risk of ocean plastic pollution to create new and reusable products. Reduce - Reduce what you buy. Before you make a purchase, ask yourself if you truly need it, or if you can repurpose other items that you already have try to avoid products that are wrapped in plastic, and seek more sustainable alternatives.

Re-Use - Reuse plastic items as much as possible or take to a second-hand store where possible so they don’t end up in landfill.

Recycle - Recycle correctly and choose to buy recycled products to close the loop.
